High Risk Licencing

At Tasmanian Safety & Training Services we can offer Training in a number of High Risk tasks to enable you to gain your High Risk licencing.
In accordance with the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2012 a person must not carry out specified classes of high risk work unless the person holds the high risk work (HRW) licence for that class. A HRW licence is recognised in all states and territories of Australia, enabling the holder to perform high risk work under consistent standards. To see when we have courses scheduled visit the Course Information & Dates Page.

The requirements to hold a HRW licence do not apply if you are:
* In the course of training towards gaining a high risk licence; and
* Under the direct supervision of a person who is licensed to carry out the high risk work.

Duration of Licence
All HRW licences must be renewed every 5 years. At the time of renewal applicants will need to complete a declaration that he or she has maintained competency in all the classes of high risk work for which they wish to renew.

If a licence holder fails to renew before the expiry date, they have 12 months in which to make application, but cannot conduct high risk work during that time. If after the 12 month period the licence holder fails to make application, they are deemed a new applicant and must contact a RTO to enrol and undergo assessment.

Renewal of a High Risk Work Licence
Worksafe Tasmania will send out a renewal notice to the last known postal address. To renew a HRW licence applicants will need to attend a Service Tasmania outlet with the relevant documents.

Interstate Licence Holder Renewal
For an interstate licence holder that is now a resident in Tasmania who needs to renew their licence will need to provide a photocopy of their current high risk work licence with their application.

Due to legislative requirements, if your HRW licence expires, you must complete the full training again.
